#forty five

I love getting involved
in a project
as you have probably realised!

I saw this the other day

A call for some nature inspired
yarn bombing!

So number forty four
is some little knitted leaves
with a dried rose attached
and a tag with the message
"love nature"
and the group hashtag
"#knitthesky"

Last night I sent
my brother and nephew
out to hang it
in a mystery location for me

After watching Glastonbury
on tv all weekend,
I am currently
obsessed with
Florence and the Machine.

So my song for the day
is
Rabbit Heart (Raise it Up)

#forty four

Number forty four
is some little paper butterflies

I read an appeal on Twitter
asking for people to join in and make
a butterfly
as part of a secret project
in support of libraries, books, ideas and words.

They will all be assembled
and taken to a location,
we will all find out where that is later......

They were much more fiddly
to make than they look
and I kept gluing them to my fingers.

Big respect to my friend Becky
who makes the most exquisite
paper and wire
flower sculptures,
sooooo difficult!!!!

#forty three

Number forty three
is some photographs
which may or may not be
entered into Wolsingham Show
in September

Today I am listening to
Bob Harris's show
recorded on Sunday morning 3am
on Radio 2.
Such a great listen,
he plays some excellent music

Sounds of our shores

I've just heard about
the most fabulous project organised by
The British Library, The National Trust,
The National Trust for Scotland
and audioBoom Ltd.

They are asking people
to record sounds from our shoreline
and upload them onto
an interactive audiomap

audioboom.com/channel/soundsofourshores

I have been playing some of the sounds
this morning and could
listen to them all day long

#forty two

A while back I read about
a project called Briswool
in a crochet magazine.

Vicky Harrison and a team of volunteers
have been knitting and crocheting
a model of Bristol, UK
with buildings, boats, trees etc.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcLf18rdU6w

You can see it on this You Tube video

Last week she made a request on Twitter
for people to make some strips
of "brown water".

As I am always looking for
something different to do
and I love joining in with
these types of projects,
I got the pattern and have made
five strips

They remind me of
rashers of bacon!

Its a great way to use up scraps of wool
and a fun thing to be part of.

So that little make is number forty two.

Today's song is
For You by Judie Tzuke

Summer Solstice

Happy Summer Solstice

The best day of the year!

I'm up at 3am
(more by accident than design)
I am full of cold and needed
some toast and something warm for my throat.

The sky is already getting light
so I went out into the yard
with my drink
and sat and listened to the birds
that had started to sing.

It was a lovely atmosphere,
with that musty damp grass smell
you get when you are camping
and have to get up at the crack of dawn
in the middle of a field.

The sky is clear, so
there were still stars to be seen
to the west
and the sky turning a paler blue
to the east.

I have something planned to make today
so fingers crossed for some sun.

#forty one

Number forty one.

This tapestry was started by my neighbour
but like many projects had sat in the cupboard
for some time.

So for the last couple of months
I have been stitching it for her
and have finished it today.

I did manage to sew it to
my dressing gown a couple of times!

Now I will have to finish
the little one of my own
that has been stuck in a basket for years!

#thirty nine

Last week we had some
glorious weather.

Perfect for a trip to the seaside.

My friends Becky and Joyce
went to Tynemouth and brought the beach to me!

So I made my own little seaside scene -  make number thirty nine!

On the same day
my mother and brother went to Whitby
and knowing it is my favourite place on earth
they brought a little of there back for me too.....

together with a Whitby Lucky Duck!

I hope it lives up to its name!

#thirty eight

Another little crochet project
to use up some scraps of yarn
and some beads

Number thirty eight
is a cover for the milk jug

I have just finished reading
Weathering by Lucy Wood
which I loved.
She has such a fabulous imagination
and you feel immersed
in the characters from the start.

Next I am reading
The Gracekeepers by Kirsty Logan.
A sort of similar type of book with such
an imaginative story
and characters you empathise with.

#two

Mr and Mrs Renard

I made these from a printout
by the textile artist Mister Finch

I coloured them in, glued them to thick paper,
cut them out and fixed together
with butterfly pins

If you want to make one
go to Mister Finch's Facebook page
you will find a link
