Happy Summer Solstice
The best day of the year!
I'm up at 3am
(more by accident than design)
I am full of cold and needed
some toast and something warm for my throat.
The sky is already getting light
so I went out into the yard
with my drink
and sat and listened to the birds
that had started to sing.
It was a lovely atmosphere,
with that musty damp grass smell
you get when you are camping
and have to get up at the crack of dawn
in the middle of a field.
The sky is clear, so
there were still stars to be seen
to the west
and the sky turning a paler blue
to the east.
I have something planned to make today
so fingers crossed for some sun.
