The "knitted comforts" are finished
I made a bag mitten for an injured hand
and a cap to wear with steel helmet
The knitters were asked to write a label
and say why they had made each item.
I made mine in memory of two family members killed in WW1
Francis Edward Charles Hall and William Wardle Colling Hall
My mam made a short neck helmet
and a boot for an injured foot.
She was evacuated during WW2 and remembered
ladies knitting for the war effort
and her mother making items for my uncle
who fought and was a prisoner of war in Italy
I've really enjoyed this project
and am looking forward
to seeing photos of the full display

Solent Showcase Art Gallery in Southampton
